Yoga Practice

Just before a recent yoga class, a wasp stung my foot.  While shrieking in pain, I mumbled, “But I can’t miss yoga!”  Even as the sharp-shooting twinges raged, I was thinking about how to do āsanas without using my foot.  Seriously!?!  It soon became apparent that I wasn’t going anywhere except to my couch. Ten-hours later a nice doctor at the Urgent Care Clinic prescribed some drugs that helped me feel better, except for the lingering frustration that the wasp had come between me and my class.

My interest in yoga dates back to the 1990s.  After taking an introductory course at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center, I worked at the front desk and enjoyed many yoga classes to offset the rigors of graduate school.  Over the years, I have practiced many styles including Aṣṭāṅga, Iyengar, Anusāra, and Power Yoga.  In 2012 I completed a 100-hour Yoga Immersion with Sarah Faircloth (formerly certified Anusāra Yoga).  When I’m not teaching, spending time with family and friends, or updating this website, I am hopefully in a yoga class!
